Run Cards privacy policy

What the Run Cards app stores and sends: your progress and a play log kept on your device, and nothing sent to us or to anyone else.

This policy covers Run Cards, our card puzzle game for iPhone and Android. It says what the app stores, what it sends and to whom, how long it is kept, and what you can ask us to do about it. The privacy notice for violabs.co.uk covers this website.

Who we are

Vio Labs LTD makes Run Cards and is responsible for it. The company is registered in England and Wales, company number 17466165, with its registered office at 128 City Road, London EC1V 2NX.

To ask about your data or make a request, email contact@violabs.co.uk or write to us at the registered office.

In short

  • There are no accounts, no analytics and no crash reporting. We do not sell personal data.
  • Your progress, settings and a log of your play stay on your device.
  • The game sends nothing to us or to anyone else. It has no game server.
  • This version shows no adverts and has no purchases.

On your device

The app keeps these on your device only:

  • the levels you have completed, your personal bests and the table colour you chose;
  • your settings: sound, reduced motion, win vibration and optional reward offers;
  • the level you are playing, with its moves, so you can undo them or carry on later;
  • counters for optional reward offers, so that they can be spaced out, and whether this copy of the app is in a group that is never shown them. About one copy in ten is put in that group at random when the app is first opened;
  • a play log of up to 5,000 recent events, such as a level started, a run cleared, an undo, a hint, a level won or a colour unlocked. Each event has the time, the level, random identifiers for the attempt and the session, and details such as the cards in a run. The event for the start of a session also says whether the app is running on iPhone or Android. Older events are deleted as new ones are added.

None of this is sent to us or to anyone else. Uninstalling the app deletes all of it.

On Android, the app does not allow this data into backups to your Google account. On iPhone, if your phone makes backups to iCloud, those backups may include it, as they do for other apps. We cannot see them.

Exporting the play log

Settings has a section called Playtest data, with Export JSON and Export CSV. It is there so that people testing the game can share their play log with us if they want to. On a phone, export shows the log as text, and Copy export copies it to your clipboard. Nothing is sent unless you paste it into another app and send it yourself.

If you send us an export, we use it only to improve the game, and we keep it only for as long as we need it for that. You can ask us to delete it at any time.

Advertising

This version of Run Cards shows no adverts and contains no advertising software. Settings has a switch for optional reward offers, but this version has no reward offers to show.

A later version may offer an optional advert in return for extra cards. If it does, we will update this policy before that version is released.

Purchases

This version has no purchases. Every level, hint and table colour is free.

What the app does not do

The app has no accounts and no sign-in. It runs no analytics and no crash reporting, and it does not talk to a server of ours or of anyone else. It does not ask for your location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone. On Android it may use the vibration motor for the short vibration when you win, which you can turn off in Settings. We do not sell personal data.

Children

Run Cards sends no personal data to us from anyone, of any age: what it stores stays on the device. If you think a child has sent us a play log or an email, email contact@violabs.co.uk and we will delete anything we hold.

How long it is kept

  • On your device: until you uninstall the app, or longer in your own phone backups. The play log keeps the latest 5,000 events.
  • A play log you choose to send us: only for as long as we need it to improve the game.
  • Email you send us: only for as long as we need it to deal with what you asked.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, erase it, restrict how we use it or stop using it. Where it applies, you can also ask for your data in a portable format. Email contact@violabs.co.uk or write to us at the registered office above.

What Run Cards stores never reaches us, so we hold nothing from the app unless you send it to us yourself.

You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.

Changes to this policy

If a new version of the app stores or sends anything new, we will update this policy before that version is released. The date of the last change is at the end of this page.
