Domino Circuit privacy policy
What the Domino Circuit app stores and sends: progress and a play record kept on your device, and adverts from Google AdMob only when you choose one.
This policy covers Domino Circuit, our puzzle game for iPhone, iPad and Android. It says what the app stores, what it sends and to whom, why, how long it is kept, and what you can ask us to do about it. The privacy notice for violabs.co.uk covers this website.
Domino Circuit is not released yet. This policy describes the app as it is built today. If a version of the app stores or sends anything new, we will update this policy before that version is released.
Who we are
Vio Labs LTD makes Domino Circuit and is the controller of the personal data described here. The company is registered in England and Wales, company number 17466165, with its registered office at 128 City Road, London EC1V 2NX.
To ask about your data or make a request, email contact@violabs.co.uk or write to us at the registered office.
In short
- There are no accounts, no purchases and no crash reporting, and the app sends no analytics. We do not sell personal data.
- Your progress, your coins, your settings and a record of your play stay on your device.
- The app sends nothing to us.
- Adverts come from Google AdMob, and only when you choose to watch one. Google's consent message lets you make your choices where the law requires it.
On your device
The app keeps one saved game on your device. It holds:
- the circuits you have solved, the circuit you are playing, where your pieces are and the changes you have made, so that undo works and you can carry on later;
- your settings: sound and reduced motion;
- the hints you have revealed, and the circuits where a push has missed, because that is when the game can offer an advert;
- your coins, as a list of what you have earned and spent: the welcome coins, coins for solving circuits, coins from adverts and coins spent on hints;
- a note of each advert you chose to watch: a random reference, the circuit, and whether it finished and earned coins;
- a record of your play, described below.
None of this is sent to us. The game has no reset button: uninstalling the app, or clearing its data in your device's settings, deletes all of it.
On Android, the app allows Android's backup of app data, so your saved game may be included in your phone's backup to your Google account, or copied to a new phone, as it is for other apps. On iPhone and iPad, backups to iCloud or to a computer may include it. We cannot see these backups.
Google's software also keeps your advertising choices on your device, as described under "Advertising" below.
The record of your play
The saved game includes a record of what happens as you play: each piece you place, turn or take back, each undo, each push and which stars it reached, when you adjust or restart, move to the next circuit, open or reveal a hint, and when you choose to watch an advert and how it ended. Each entry has the time, the circuit, a random reference for the entry and random references that tell one session or attempt from another. The record holds no name, contact details, device identifier or location. It has no size limit, and it is kept until you uninstall the app or clear its data.
The record stays on your device. In Settings you can export it as a JSON or CSV file. The app writes the file to its temporary storage and opens your device's share sheet. Nothing is sent unless you choose an app and send the file yourself. A JSON file also contains your solved circuits, your coin list, your advert notes and the user agent string of the app's web view, which names the type of device and the system version. A CSV file contains only the record of your play.
If you send us an export, we use it only to improve the game, and we keep it only for as long as we need it for that. You can ask us to delete it at any time.
Advertising
Domino Circuit shows a video advert from Google AdMob only when you choose to watch one, to earn 25 coins. The game offers one on the hint screen after a push on that circuit has missed. AdMob is provided by Google Ireland Limited for people in the UK and the European Economic Area, and by Google LLC elsewhere.
When you tap to watch an advert, the app first asks Google's consent tool whether your consent is needed. Where the law requires it, as in the UK and the European Economic Area, Google's consent message is shown, and an advert is requested only if your choices allow it. Google's software keeps your choices on your device. You can change them at any time in Settings, under Advertising privacy choices, which also contacts Google.
The app does not ask Google for non-personalised adverts, so where your choices allow it, Google may personalise them. To show, measure and protect adverts, Google's software in the app may collect your device's advertising identifier where it can read one, your IP address and the approximate location it shows, information about your device and the app, how the adverts perform, and how you interact with them. Google uses this under its own policies: how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy. Google may work with other advertising companies, which Google's consent message lists. AdMob reports to us in totals, such as the number of adverts shown.
Google's software is built into the app. On iPhone and iPad it starts only when you tap to watch an advert or open Advertising privacy choices. On Android, part of it starts when the app opens, as it does in other apps that include it. On both, the app asks it to load an advert only after you tap to watch one. If you never watch an advert, the app makes no advert requests.
On iPhone and iPad, the app does not ask for permission to track you through Apple's App Tracking Transparency, so Google's software cannot read your device's advertising identifier.
On Android, the app includes the permissions that Google's software uses to read your device's advertising ID and to use Android's own advertising services. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device's settings.
Where consent is needed, the legal basis for advertising is your consent. Otherwise it is our legitimate interest in paying for the free game with optional adverts.
Purchases
Domino Circuit has no purchases. Coins are earned in the game, have no money value and cannot be bought.
What the app does not do
The app has no accounts and no sign-in. It runs no analytics and no crash reporting, and sends nothing to us. It does not ask for your location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone. We do not sell personal data.
Children
Domino Circuit does not ask for anyone's name, age or contact details, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. The puzzles suit all ages, but the app is not directed at children, and it does not mark its advert requests as directed at children. If you have a question about a child's use of the app, email contact@violabs.co.uk.
How long it is kept
- On your device: until you uninstall the app or clear its data, or longer in your own phone backups.
- The record of your play: on your device only, for as long as the saved game.
- An exported file: in the app's temporary storage until your device clears it, and wherever you choose to send it.
- An export you choose to send us: only for as long as we need it to improve the game.
- Email you send us: only for as long as we need it to deal with what you asked.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, erase it, restrict how we use it or stop using it. Where it applies, you can also ask for your data in a portable format. Email contact@violabs.co.uk or write to us at the registered office above.
What Domino Circuit stores stays on your device and never reaches us unless you send it to us yourself, so you can delete it by uninstalling the app or clearing its data. For data that Google collects for adverts, use Google's own tools, or contact Google.
You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
Changes to this policy
If a new version of the app stores or sends anything new, we will update this policy before that version is released. The date of the last change is at the end of this page.
